A New Scheme to enable businesses to offer e-bikes for their staff is being launched by North and West Northamptonshire Councils under the Smart Move Northamptonshire brand.

North and West Northamptonshire Councils are delighted to be able to offer businesses the opportunity for their staff to take part in the e-bike trial scheme. With a fleet of 40 e-bikes, this trial is an exciting opportunity for businesses and their staff to trial an e-bike FREE and with little risk for 4 weeks to see how it can work for them. It is hoped that this trial will enable staff to gain confidence and change their travel habits, whilst also supporting the business in their travel planning, reducing the pressure on staff parking whilst supporting their staff to become more active.
The offer - how it works?
With our partners, Outspoken Cycles, we will arrange to deliver the fleet of bikes to your business property and arrange a handover session to the staff who will be using them, ensuring they are aware of how to use the bikes, the safety requirements and the Terms and Conditions of loan. Further induction material will be available online.
Up to 18 e-bikes will be available for you to offer to your staff for a trial period of 4 weeks. (If more than 18 staff members would like to take up this offer, we can arrange for additional trials to take place at your business)
A range of different sized e-bikes will be available to ensure that everyone taking part has an e-bike to fit them.
Each e-bike is fitted with a GPS tracker which will enable the project team to gain an understanding of how the bikes are being used throughout the trials. We will seek the views and opinions of staff on e-bikes before, during and after the trial to assess the impact of the trial.
About the bikes
All the bikes on the scheme have been chosen for their ease of use, durability and comfortable ride position for wide ranges of experience and heights.
All the bikes use the highly-regarded Bosch Active Line motors, with inbuilt lights and simple controls.
Our main two bikes are Gazelle Paris C7 HMBs in sizes 46 and 53 and Raleigh Motus Tours in a size 46. These are allocated largely based on height.
We then have a further pool of Tern Vektron S10 folding bikes which will be allocated to those needing multimodal travel, or that have storage constraints. These bikes may also be allocated as alternatives to the main bikes based on height if required.

Good for: commutes up to 20 miles

Good for: multimodal travel e.g., journeys requiring public transport or a car / when storage at home is restricted or not secure as the bike can be folded and stored indoors / wide range of heights from 145cm-195cm
